Collaboration between the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, UGM, and the Regional Agency for Agricultural Food Security (DPKP DIY) in Strengthening the Agricultural Sector and Food Security”

[Thursday, January 18, 2024] The Department of Agriculture and Food Security of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DPKP DIY) signed a cooperation agreement with the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP) at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in the fields of education, research, and community service. This collaboration aims to strengthen the relationship and harmony between the two institutions that have been established. The event began with a speech by the Dean of FTP UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Eni Harmayani, M.Sc., who highlighted several ongoing activities and collaborations between the two institutions, expressing hope for the generation of new ideas through the initiation of this collaboration.

Mr. R. Hery Sulistio Hermawan, S.Pi., M.T., as the Acting Head of the Department of Agriculture and Food Security of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DPKP DIY), welcomes this collaboration and hopes that it will contribute to achieving the goal of creating stability in agriculture and food security, especially in the DIY region. The signing of the cooperation agreement was conducted by the Dean of FTP UGM and the Acting Head of DPKP DIY, witnessed by the DPKP DIY staff, the Dean’s office of FTP UGM, representatives from the Department of Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering, Dr. Arifin Dwi Saputro, S.T.P., M.Sc., IPM., ASEAN Eng., and representatives from various departments within FTP UGM, as well as representatives from the Land and Water Resources Engineering Laboratory from the Department of Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering, represented by Chandra Setyawan, S.T.P., M.Eng., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng., and Dr. Murtiningrum, S.T.P., M.Eng., IPU., ASEAN Eng. This initiation collaboration event concluded with a joint discussion between the two institutions. Under the umbrella of this cooperation agreement, it is hoped to produce graduates with academic excellence who also understand the agricultural issues in DIY, thus supporting agricultural production to achieve food security. This objective aligns with SDGs Goal 4 for quality education, SDGs Goal 12 for responsible production and consumption, and SDGs Goal 2 for ending hunger.
