From Malang to Mojokerto: PERMATETA FTP UGM Explores Student Networks and the Industrial through the Academic and Industrial Visit 2026

Yogyakarta, October 23-25, 2026. The Agricultural Engineering Student Association (PERMATETA), Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), organized the Academic and Industrial Visit (AIV) with a delegation of approximately 100 people. The program consisted of two series of activities: an institutional visit to the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Student Association (HMTB), Faculty of Agroindustrial Technology and Biosystems (FTAB), Universitas Brawijaya (UB), on Saturday, October 24, 2026, and an industrial visit to Cokelat Mojopahit at the BMJ Mojopahit Village Tourism Site, Mojokerto Regency, on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Through this program, students gained insights into organizational and company profiles, the application of technology and innovation in agricultural technology, and the implementation of agricultural engineering knowledge in industry.

The delegation was accompanied by two faculty advisors from the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABE), FTP, UGM, Aryanis Mutia Zahra, S.TP., M.Si., Ph.D. and Dr. Nurhayati Tarigan, S.T., M.Sc. After an overnight journey from Yogyakarta, the delegation arrived in Malang for the first series of activities.

Day One: PERMATETA FTP UGM Visit to HMTB FTAB UB

The first series, Campus Visit (Sambang Kampus) 2026 by HMTB FTAB UB, opened with welcoming remarks from Vian Medika and Ludovikus Pandu Pudji Raharsa, the chairs of HMTB FTAB UB and PERMATETA FTP UGM, respectively, as well as Najwa Rifa Fauziyah and Sadiya Amalia Putri, the committee chairs of Campus Visit and AIV 2026, respectively. The activity was also attended by Dr. Dewi Maya Maharani, S.T.P., M.Sc., faculty advisor of HMTB FTAB UB.

In her remarks, Dr. Dewi Maya Maharani, S.T.P., M.Sc. stated that the visit represented a tangible form of collaboration between the two student associations. Dr. Maya expressed her hope that this collaboration would continue through the exchange of information on student activities, summer courses, competitions such as the Annual Regional Convention (ARC), and other supporting activities.

Meanwhile, in her remarks, Aryanis Mutia Zahra, S.TP., M.Si., Ph.D. conveyed that although the students come from different campus, both campuses belong to closely related scientific disciplines and face the same challenge, making Indonesian agriculture and food systems more resilient, efficient, and sustainable through technology. Dr. Mutia expressed her hope that the discussion forum would not end as a mere ceremonial agenda but would instead become a space for honest learning that generates genuine collaboration in student activities, and she emphasized the importance of nurturing networks of friendship.

This program forms part of the efforts of PERMATETA FTP UGM to improve the quality of student organizations, particularly in leadership, organizational management, and the application of knowledge in agricultural technology. The exchange of experiences with HMTB FTAB UB is expected to provide best practices that can be adapted to the characteristics and needs of FTP UGM students, while the visit to Cokelat Mojopahit offered a concrete picture of the application of agricultural engineering knowledge from upstream to downstream. All activities were adjusted to the agenda and policies of each host institution. Overall, the program ran smoothly and delivered strategic benefits in expanding the network of Agricultural Engineering students across universities and bringing students closer to the industrial world.

This student capacity development initiative, organized by PERMATETA FTP UGM in collaboration with HMTB FTAB UB and Cokelat Mojopahit, is aligned with the commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education (strengthening contextual student learning through the exchange of organizational management practices and direct exposure to the application of agricultural engineering knowledge in industry), and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through synergy between student organizations across universities and agricultural product processing industry actors.
