Sleman, Tuesday, April 29, 2025, the Office of Public Works, Housing, and Settlement Areas (DPU PKP) of Sleman Regency held a Technical Guidance (Bimtek) on the Management of Irrigation Operation and Maintenance (OP) for Civil Servants (ASN) and Non-Civil Servants within the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for Water Resources in the Eastern Region. Dr. Murtiningrum, S.T.P., M.Eng., a lecturer from the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), was invited as the keynote speaker at the event held at Hotel Paku Mas, Sleman.
The event was attended by 50 participants, including Structural Officials, Functional Officers, Executive Staff, and field personnel such as irrigation technicians, dam operators, and sluice gate operators. On this occasion, Dr. Murtiningrum presented a session titled “Fundamentals of Irrigation Operation and Maintenance,” which covered both technical and managerial principles for effective, efficient, and sustainable irrigation system management.

The material was delivered interactively through a combination of presentations, group discussions, metaplan activities, and educational games to enhance participants’ understanding. With this approach, it is expected that participants will improve their capacity to carry out operational duties and maintain irrigation infrastructure performance optimally.
This activity plays a vital role in strengthening water security and the sustainability of agricultural systems, particularly in the Sleman region, which holds a strategic position in supporting agricultural production in the Yogyakarta Special Region. More broadly, this technical guidance also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 2: Zero Hunger, by supporting resilient and productive agricultural systems through reliable irrigation water availability.
