Postharvest Testing Laboratory FTP UGM Conducts ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Internal Audit, Reinforces Commitment to Improving Testing Quality

Yogyakarta, June 30, 2025 — The Postharvest Testing Laboratory of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FTP UGM), has conducted an Internal Audit based on ISO/IEC 17025:2017 as a form of commitment to improving the quality standards of its testing laboratory. The audit took place at the Postharvest Engineering Laboratory FTP UGM and was conducted by two auditors from the Integrated Research and Testing Laboratory (LPPT) UGM, namely Dr. drh. Claude Mona Airin, M.P., and Mawaddah Isgitani, S.P., M.Sc.

ISO/IEC 17025:2017 is an international standard that specifies the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. This standard serves as a crucial reference to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and consistency of laboratory test results and is a key requirement for the international recognition of a laboratory’s competence.

The audit was attended by the entire Postharvest Testing Laboratory team as auditees, including:

  1. Dr. Sri Rahayoe, S.T.P., M.P., IPM., ASEAN Eng.

  2. Dr. Ir. Devi Yuni Susanti, S.T.P., M.Sc., IPU, ASEAN Eng., APEC Eng.

  3. Hanim Zuhrotul Amanah, S.T.P., M.P., Ph.D., IPM.

  4. Dr. Joko Nugroho Wahyu Karyadi, S.T.P., M.Eng.

  5. Dr. Arifin Dwi Saputro, S.T.P., M.Sc., IPM., ASEAN Eng.

  7. Hilda Maya Sintia Dewi, S.T.P., M.Sc.

  8. Musyrifah Kurniawati, A.Md.

  9. Nadia Muna Salma, S.T.P.

Throughout the audit process, a thorough inspection was carried out to assess the implementation of ISO/IEC 17025:2017, covering quality assurance, technical operations, and the readiness of administrative documents. These included quality objectives, quality procedures, work instructions, work forms, test result records, equipment calibration certificates, and other quality-related documents. In addition, the auditors conducted a direct inspection of laboratory equipment and facilities to ensure that all instruments used meet the requirements for accuracy, precision, and reliability in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards.

This audit serves not only as a routine evaluation but also as a concrete form of the Postharvest Testing Laboratory’s commitment to continuously improving, maintaining, and upholding high laboratory quality standards. Through the implementation of ISO/IEC 17025:2017, the laboratory strives to guarantee the quality of test results, providing real contributions to academia, research, and the food industry, especially in the postharvest sector.

Moreover, this audit aligns with FTP UGM’s efforts to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) through improving test quality that contributes to efficient food production, SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthening laboratory capacity in higher education, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through enhancing competent laboratory collaboration networks at both national and international levels.

Through these continuous efforts, the Postharvest Testing Laboratory FTP UGM is expected to further establish itself as a leading reference for high-quality, accurate, and internationally recognized postharvest testing.
