DTPB FTP UGM Welcomes 96 New Undergraduate Students through PIONIR AGROPHORIA 2025

Yogyakarta, August 6, 2025. The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DTPB), Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP), Universitas Gadjah Mada officially welcomed 96 new undergraduate students of the Agricultural Engineering program as part of PIONIR AGROPHORIA 2025, an orientation and campus introduction program specifically designed for new FTP UGM students.

Organized by the PIONIR AGROPHORIA 2025 Committee, this event aims to provide first-year students with essential knowledge about the academic environment, departmental structure, and scientific networks they will engage with during their studies at DTPB. The activities took place in Room 102 of the FTP UGM building, attended by department leaders and faculty members.

The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Ir. Lilik Sutiarso, M.Eng., Head of the Department, who delivered an inspiring welcome speech.

“Welcome to the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering. Here, you will face both challenges and extraordinary opportunities to grow into the future generation of agricultural engineers,” he said.

Also in attendance were Dr. Arifin Dwi Saputro (Department Secretary) and Hanggar Ganara Mawandha, Ph.D. (Department Treasurer). Dr. Arifin presented an overview of the department’s organizational structure, academic programs, and key learning tracks. He introduced the Scientific Field Groups (KBK) that form the basis for students’ specialization within the department:

  • Land and Water Resources Engineering

  • Agricultural Energy and Machinery

  • Environmental Control Engineering

  • Food, Postharvest, and Biosystems Engineering

Prof. Dr. Ir. Nursigit Bintoro, M.Agr., and Dr. Rudiati Evi Masithoh, as heads of the Master’s and Doctoral Programs, also introduced the fast-track program, which allows students to complete both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees within five years.

The event also welcomed Dr. Sri Rahayoe, Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Alumni at FTP UGM, and Dr. Ansita Gupitakingkin Pradipt, Head of the PIONIR AGROPHORIA 2025 Committee and a lecturer at DTPB. Several KBK coordinators were also present, including Dr. Chandra Setiawan, Andri Prima Nugroho, Ph.D., Dr. Devi Yuni Susanti, and other lecturers Dr. Ngadisih, and Dr. Prieskarinda Lestari.

With an atmosphere full of energy and optimism, the orientation encouraged new students to adapt to university life, understand the dynamics of campus culture, and begin planning their academic journey. The program aspires to shape students who are not only academically competent but also capable of contributing to the advancement of sustainable and innovative agricultural technology.
