Yogyakarta, January 7, 2025 — The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DTPB), Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FTP UGM), has entered a new chapter of leadership. On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, the new departmental leadership for the 2026–2031 period was officially inaugurated as part of the Inauguration of Officials within Universitas Gadjah Mada, held at Grha Saba Pramana UGM.
At the inauguration, Dr. Arifin Dwi Saputro was officially appointed as Head of the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, replacing Prof. Dr. Ir. Lilik Sutiarso. He is accompanied by Chandra Setyawan, Ph.D., who was entrusted with the position of Department Secretary, succeeding Dr. Arifin Dwi Saputro. The inauguration was conducted by the university leadership and witnessed by the Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.Ed., Sp.OG(K), Ph.D., along with other members of the UGM leadership.

Following the university-level inauguration, activities at the faculty and departmental levels continued with the handover ceremony of the Head and Secretary of the Department, as well as the Heads of the Master’s and Doctoral Study Programs within FTP UGM. Dr. Ir. Rudiati Evi Masithoh was reappointed as Head of the Doctoral Program in Agricultural Engineering to continue her leadership from the previous period. Meanwhile, Hanim Zuhrotul Amanah, Ph.D., was officially appointed as Head of the Master’s Program in Agricultural Engineering, succeeding Prof. Dr. Ir. Nursigit Bintoro, who had completed his term of office.
The handover ceremony was held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology UGM and was witnessed directly by the Dean of FTP UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Eni Harmayani, M.Sc. This ceremony symbolized the continuity of leadership as well as a shared commitment to maintaining the sustainability of academic programs and institutional governance within FTP UGM.

The series of events then continued at the FTP UGM Operation Room with a farewell ceremony for the previous leadership of the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering. The event was attended by all DTPB FTP UGM lecturers, guided by the Master of Ceremony, Hilda Maya Sintia Dewi, M.Sc., and took place in a reflective and collegial atmosphere. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Ir. Lilik Sutiarso, as the former Head of the Department, symbolically handed over the leadership baton to the newly inaugurated Head of the Department, Dr. Arifin Dwi Saputro.
During the session, Prof. Dr. Ir. Lilik Sutiarso, Prof. Dr. Ir. Nursigit Bintoro, and Hanggar Ganara Mawandha, Ph.D., conveyed their impressions and messages from their respective leadership tenures, while also expressing their hopes for the future direction and strategic steps of the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering. They emphasized the importance of collaboration, strengthening academic culture, and adapting to global dynamics and challenges in the field of agricultural and biosystems engineering.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Purwantana, who had also previously served as Head of the Department, shared insights into the historical journey and development of DTPB FTP UGM over time. He highlighted the achievements attained under past leaderships and underscored the importance of drawing lessons from previous experiences as a foundation for future departmental development.

As the closing of the series of events, a handover ceremony for the Department Treasurer was held. In this process, Sri Markumningsih, Ph.D., was officially appointed as Treasurer of the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering FTP UGM, continuing the duties previously carried out by Hanggar Ganara Mawandha, Ph.D. On the same occasion, the newly inaugurated Head of the Department, Dr. Arifin Dwi Saputro, delivered a welcoming address outlining the direction and objectives of the department’s future leadership, including a commitment to strengthening academic performance, departmental governance, and the synergy of the university’s tridharma. He also invited all lecturers and educational staff to provide full support and work collaboratively to advance the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering FTP UGM in a sustainable manner.

Through this leadership regeneration, the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering FTP UGM is expected to continue strengthening its role as a center of excellence in education, research, and community service in the field of agricultural and biosystems engineering. The new leadership is also expected to drive innovation, expand collaborative networks, and enhance the department’s contribution in addressing the challenges of sustainable agricultural development at both national and global levels.
