[February 5, 2024] The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering received a visit from a team from the Research Department of PT Petrokimia Gresik to explore potential cooperation in the field of smart precision farming. The delegation from PT Petrokimia Gresik consisted of 3 members and was received by the department chair of TPB along with professors from the Energy and Agricultural Machinery Laboratory.
Mohammad Armi Kurnia, the VP of Research at PT Petrokimia Gresik, conveyed that the company is currently developing technology and educational areas to serve as models and learning facilities for the application of Agricultural Technology. In the development of these areas, PT Petrokimia Gresik seeks collaboration with the DTPB UGM. Prof. Lilik Sutiarso, the department chair of TPB, welcomed this cooperation plan as it aligns well with the competencies developed in the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering. Professors in the EMP lab also have experience in research related to smart precision farming.
The discussion began with a presentation by Dr. Radi, the head of the Energy and Agricultural Machinery Laboratory, on the research conducted by professors in the EMP facility. This was followed by a discussion on research plans that could be collaboratively undertaken between PT Petrokimia Gresik and DTPB UGM. After the discussion, the team from PT Petrokimia Gresik visited the EMP Lab Room to observe the lab facilities, particularly the plant factory.
