DTPB FTP UGM Receives Fourth-Year Collaboration Grant with YESSA for the Development of Zero Waste Agrotourism in Sambak Village

Yogyakarta, September 4, 2025 — The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DTPB), Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FTP UGM), welcomed representatives from the Yanmar Environmental Sustainability Support Association (YESSA) for the fourth-year Grant Ceremony held at the Operation Room of FTP UGM.

YESSA was represented by Senior Officer Yukino Hiroyasu and Executive Secretary Kamikubo Keita. This grant demonstrates YESSA’s continued commitment to supporting the development of zero-waste-based agrotourism to foster a Bio-Circular Green Economy in Sambak Village, Magelang Regency, Central Java.

The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Mirwan Ushada, S.T.P., M.App.Life.Sc., UGM Vice-Rector for Research, Business Development, and Cooperation as well as Director of the Research Directorate; Dr. Ngadisih from the Directorate of Academic Development and Innovation; M. Taufiq Hidayat Yahya, S.STP., M.Si., Head of Bappeda Magelang Regency, along with his staff; Lono Hartanto from the Environmental Agency of Magelang Regency; and the Sambak Village Government represented by Village Head Dahlan and Village Secretary Danu.

In her opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Eni Harmayani, Dean of FTP UGM, emphasized that collaboration with YESSA has been established since 2017 through various research and community service programs. She expressed her appreciation for YESSA’s trust in continuing this meaningful partnership, particularly in advancing sustainable agrotourism development.

The Head of Bappeda Magelang Regency, M. Taufiq Hidayat Yahya, also commended the contributions of DTPB FTP UGM through its community service programs in Sambak Village, which he considered successful in delivering direct benefits to local residents. He expressed hope that this success could be replicated in other villages across Magelang Regency.

Echoing this sentiment, Sambak Village Head Dahlan conveyed his gratitude for the research and development assistance that had been provided. According to him, the program not only delivers tangible benefits for the community but also strengthens the village’s commitment to maintaining and utilizing the grant facilities in support of sustainable livelihoods and local industry.

The highlight of the ceremony was the formal handover of the collaboration certificate by Yukino Hiroyasu (YESSA), received directly by Prof. Dr. Eni Harmayani, Dean of FTP UGM.

This collaboration reaffirms the role of DTPB FTP UGM as a driver of technological innovation and community empowerment through research-based initiatives. At the same time, it supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:

  • SDG 4 (Quality Education): Creating a collaborative learning platform between the university, community, and international partners.

  • SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth): Empowering the Sambak Village community through agrotourism development and productive ventures based on cocoa and zero-waste practices.

  • SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production): Promoting the adoption of zero-waste concepts in local industries.

  • SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): Strengthening networks between UGM, YESSA, local government, and village communities in advancing sustainable development.

Yogyakarta, 4 September 2025 — Departemen Teknik Pertanian dan Biosistem (DTPB) Fakultas Teknologi Pertanian Universitas Gadjah Mada (FTP UGM) menerima kunjungan perwakilan Yanmar Environmental Sustainability Support Association (YESSA) dalam rangkaian Grant Ceremony penyerahan piagam kerja sama tahun ke-4 di Ruang Operation Room FTP UGM.

Perwakilan YESSA yang hadir adalah Senior Officer Yukino Hiroyasu dan Executive Secretary Kamikubo Keita. Grant ini menjadi bentuk dukungan berkelanjutan YESSA terhadap program pengembangan agrowisata berbasis zero waste untuk mewujudkan Bio Circular Green Economy di Desa Sambak, Kabupaten Magelang, Jawa Tengah.

 

Kegiatan ini turut dihadiri oleh Wakil Rektor Bidang Penelitian, Pengembangan Usaha, dan Kerja Sama UGM sekaligus Direktur Direktorat Penelitian, Prof. Dr. Mirwan Ushada, S.T.P., M.App.Life.Sc., perwakilan Direktorat Kajian dan Inovasi Akademik Dr. Ngadisih, Kepala Bappeda Kabupaten Magelang M. Taufiq Hidayat Yahya, S.STP., M.Si., beserta jajarannya, Lono Hartanto dari Dinas Lingkungan Hidup Kabupaten Magelang, serta jajaran Pemerintah Desa Sambak yang diwakili oleh Kepala Desa Dahlan dan Sekretaris Desa Danu.

Dalam sambutannya, Dekan FTP UGM Prof. Dr. Eni Harmayani menegaskan bahwa kerja sama dengan YESSA telah terjalin sejak 2017 melalui berbagai program penelitian dan pengabdian masyarakat. Ia menyampaikan apresiasi atas kepercayaan YESSA untuk melanjutkan sinergi yang membawa dampak nyata, khususnya dalam pengembangan agrowisata berkelanjutan.

 

Kepala Bappeda Kabupaten Magelang, M. Taufiq Hidayat Yahya, juga mengapresiasi kontribusi DTPB FTP UGM melalui program pengabdian di Desa Sambak yang dinilai berhasil memberikan manfaat langsung bagi masyarakat. Ia berharap keberhasilan ini dapat direplikasi ke desa-desa lain di wilayah Kabupaten Magelang.

Senada dengan itu, Kepala Desa Sambak, Dahlan, menyampaikan rasa terima kasih atas bantuan penelitian dan pengembangan yang telah dilakukan. Menurutnya, program ini tidak hanya memberi manfaat nyata bagi warga tetapi juga memperkuat komitmen desa dalam merawat dan memanfaatkan fasilitas hibah demi mendukung kehidupan masyarakat dan aktivitas industri lokal yang berkelanjutan.

Puncak acara ditandai dengan penyerahan piagam kerja sama oleh Yukino Hiroyasu (YESSA) yang diterima langsung oleh Dekan FTP UGM, Prof. Dr. Eni Harmayani.

Kerja sama ini mempertegas peran DTPB FTP UGM sebagai penggerak inovasi teknologi dan pemberdayaan masyarakat berbasis riset. Inisiatif ini sekaligus mendukung pencapaian Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), antara lain:

  • SDG 4 (Pendidikan Berkualitas): Memberikan ruang pembelajaran kolaboratif antara universitas, masyarakat, dan mitra internasional.
  • SDG 8 (Pekerjaan Layak dan Pertumbuhan Ekonomi): Memberdayakan masyarakat Desa Sambak melalui pengembangan agrowisata dan usaha produktif berbasis cokelat dan limbah nol.
  • SDG 12 (Konsumsi dan Produksi yang Bertanggung Jawab): Mendorong penerapan konsep zero waste dalam industri lokal.
  • SDG 17 (Kemitraan untuk Mencapai Tujuan): Menguatkan jejaring antara UGM, YESSA, pemerintah daerah, dan masyarakat desa dalam mewujudkan pembangunan berkelanjutan.
