Echoing this, the Head of the Food Crops and Horticulture Service expressed hopes that this collaboration would elevate agriculture as a key pillar of the regional economy. He stressed the importance of developing agriculture based on local potential, supported by technology and integrated planning provided by academic institutions like UGM.
During the technical session, the DTPB UGM team presented the draft roadmap, which highlights the integration of multiple agricultural sectors, land reclamation of post-mining areas, and spatial strategies to support sustainable agricultural productivity. A key focus was the development of Petangis Village as a pilot area, applying conservation-based farming systems as a model for broader implementation.
This initiative is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by strengthening local food security, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through job creation in agriculture, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) via technological integration in regional planning, and SDG 15 (Life on Land) through the productive and sustainable use of post-mining lands.
Through this collaboration, it is expected that UGM’s science-based strategic planning will help drive rural transformation in Paser Regency toward a smart, inclusive, and environmentally conscious agricultural system.
