
Yogyakarta, October 23, 2025 — Dr. Andri Prima Nugroho, Head of the Energy and Agricultural Machinery Laboratory, Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), served as a speaker in the International Sustainability Webinar organized by the Multimedia University (MMU) Sustainability Development Committee, Malaysia.
The online webinar, themed “Harnessing Technology for Climate-Resilient Agriculture,” was held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Malaysia time (09:00–11:00 a.m. WIB) via Microsoft Teams.
This event was part of MMU SDC’s initiative to raise awareness of sustainable practices and innovations transforming the agricultural sector worldwide while ensuring environmental preservation. It attracted participants from various institutions across Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and other countries, creating a rich international forum for discussion and knowledge exchange.
In his presentation, Dr. Andri Prima Nugroho shared in-depth insights on the critical role of technology in building climate-resilient agriculture. Drawing from his expertise in precision agriculture, smart farming systems, and biosystem informatics—with a focus on integrating IoT, AI, and data-driven technologies for sustainable tropical agriculture—he highlighted innovative solutions applicable to developing countries. Preparations for the event included a successful technical rehearsal on October 21, 2025, ensuring a smooth delivery of the presentation.
Alongside Dr. Andri, the webinar also featured two distinguished speakers: Engr. Mark Alexis Ochavillo Sabines, Director of the Masterson Food and Agricultural Development Office at Xavier University, and Mdm. Zahanita Binti Kamsani, Assistant General Manager Vertical (Agri/BFSI/Smart City) at TM One. The session was moderated by Dr. Goh Mei Ling from Multimedia University, who facilitated a dynamic discussion between the speakers and participants.
Participants actively engaged in the Q&A session, raising questions about the challenges and opportunities in implementing smart agricultural technologies, including cost-related issues, appropriate technological adaptation, community responses to innovation, and the limitations affecting technology adoption in Indonesia.
