Dr. Hanim Delivers Guest Lecture at Gyeongsang National University, South Korea

September 25, 2025 – Dr. Hanim Zuhrotul Amanah,  lecturer at the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DTPB), Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FTP UGM), had the opportunity to deliver a guest lecture at Gyeongsang National University, South Korea. On this occasion, Dr. Hanim presented the topic Current Research in Bioresources Process and Environmental Control Engineering.

This guest lecture was part of a series of international collaborative research activities entitled Research Collaboration on Spectral Measurement for Food Quality and Safety, conducted in collaboration with Prof. Byoung Kwan-Cho from Chungnam National University and Assoc. Prof. Hoonsoo Lee, Ph.D. from Chungbuk National University. The main focus of this research is the development of spectral measurement technology to support quality evaluation as well as food safety risk mitigation.

In her presentation, Dr. Hanim shared her research experiences and outlined future research directions in the field of bioresources process and environmental control engineering. She emphasized that global challenges in food and agriculture—such as limited arable land, the growing demand for nutritious food, food fraud issues, and environmental impacts of food production practices—require innovative and sustainable science-based solutions. Technologies based on bioresources process and environmental control engineering are believed to provide real solutions to improve production efficiency, maintain food quality, and reduce negative impacts on the environment.

The guest lecture not only served as a platform for knowledge and experience exchange but also strengthened academic networks between DTPB FTP UGM and Gyeongsang National University. The event was attended by postgraduate students, lecturers, and researchers from various disciplines who actively engaged in discussions, creating a dynamic academic forum and enriching perspectives in the development of agricultural and food technology.

This activity is also in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Its contributions are reflected in SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) through research supporting sustainable food security, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) by strengthening food safety systems, SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the organization of international guest lectures that enhance learning quality and broaden student insights, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the development of innovative technologies, and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by promoting research practices and technologies that are more environmentally friendly.

DTPB FTP UGM hopes that this guest lecture not only brings academic benefits to participants but also expands international research collaborations, opens opportunities for joint innovations, and contributes to providing global solutions for challenges in food, agriculture, and environmental sustainability.
