Yogyakarta, 30 September 2025 — The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DTPB), Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FTP UGM), welcomed a delegation of students and lecturers from the Biosystems Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Industrial Technology, Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA), Lampung. This industrial visit was led by Muhammad Kusmali, S.T.P., M.Si., Coordinator of the Biosystems Engineering Study Program ITERA, and warmly received by the Head of DTPB, Prof. Lilik Sutiarso, in Room 384 of the FTP UGM Building.

The event began with welcoming remarks, followed by a presentation on the department’s profile delivered by Dr. Sri Markumningsih. In her presentation, she highlighted the academic fields, strategic research directions, and various advanced facilities owned by DTPB to support research, education, and community service. The session was enriched by enthusiastic questions from ITERA students, particularly regarding the department’s current and future research directions.

The program continued with visits to DTPB laboratories. Students were invited to observe research facilities firsthand and engage in discussions with researchers and technicians about the ongoing studies in each laboratory. Through these activities, students gained deeper insights into the role of agricultural engineering research in addressing challenges related to food, energy, and the environment.

This industrial visit was not only a platform for academic exchange but also aligned with the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
-
SDG 4 (Quality Education): providing cross-university learning opportunities through joint academic activities.
-
SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure): introducing technological innovations in agricultural engineering to support research development and green industry.
-
SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): strengthening networks and collaborations between UGM and ITERA in education, research, and community service.
Through this activity, DTPB FTP UGM hopes to continue serving as a center for learning, innovation, and collaboration that not only contributes to the advancement of knowledge but also provides tangible impacts on sustainable development at local, national, and global levels.
