Jakarta, October 10, 2025 – Ardan Wiratmoko, S.T.P., M.Sc., a lecturer from the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DTPB), Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), represented UGM as one of its delegates to present and introduce research on water sustainability through SIPASI (Irrigation Management System) at the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2025, held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) on October 10–11, 2025.
UGM’s participation in ISF 2025 was supported by the Directorate of Business Development (DiPU) UGM, in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP UGM), and UGM Vocational School, which jointly showcased a range of the university’s leading research and innovation outputs.
This cross-unit collaboration further strengthens UGM’s position as a research university actively driving sustainable innovation and the development of a robust national innovation ecosystem.
In this international forum, which brought together global stakeholders in the fields of energy, food, and water, Ardan Wiratmoko presented his research titled SIPASI (Irrigation Management System). This innovation was developed to support the modernization of irrigation and promote precise, efficient, and sustainable water management through the integration of digital technology and smart sensors.
SIPASI integrates real-time data from water level sensors, irrigation discharge sensors, and microclimate monitoring to provide precision irrigation recommendations. Through this system, farmers can optimize water use according to the actual needs of crops and soil conditions, thereby improving agricultural productivity amid increasingly complex climate change challenges.

The presence of SIPASI at ISF 2025 highlights UGM’s tangible contribution, particularly through DTPB FTP UGM, in advancing sustainable agriculture and digital transformation in the water resources sector. Moreover, this participation reinforces UGM’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically:
-
SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, by enhancing food security and agricultural productivity efficiency;
-
SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation, by promoting sustainable water resource management;
-
SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, through strengthening appropriate technological innovations; and
-
SDG 13 – Climate Action, by contributing to mitigation and adaptation efforts against climate change impacts.
The Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) is an annual event that brings together world leaders, academics, industry players, and international institutions to strengthen global collaboration in addressing environmental and climate crises. This year, ISF 2025 focuses on strategic themes such as “Securing Water for All: Advancing Water Security and Clean Water Access” and “Sustainable Agriculture & Nature-Based Solutions”, aligning closely with UGM’s research and innovation priorities in water and food security.
