DTPB FTP UGM and BULOG Initiate Collaboration on Development of Silo Storage Technology

Yogyakarta, October 28, 2025 — The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (DTPB FTP UGM), welcomed a visit from the National Logistics Agency (BULOG) to initiate a collaboration on the development of standard operating procedure silo storage technology for corn and grain.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Sri Rahayoe (Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Alumni), Prof. Dr. Ir. Nursigit Bintoro (Professor of Postharvest and Agricultural Product Engineering), Dr. Arifin Dwi Saputro (Department Secretary), Dr. Devi Yuni Susanti (Head of the Food, Postharvest, and Bioprocess Engineering Division), and lecturers Dr. Hanim Zuhrotul Amanah, Dr. Bayu Nugraha, Hilda Maya Sintia Dewi, M.Sc., and Dr. Dwi Ayuni.
From BULOG, the delegation was represented by Mr. Bagus Wahyu S. and Mr. Rahmat Arif.

This collaboration aims to explore the scientific foundation for developing a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the design, operation, and maintenance of corn and grain silo systems. The initiative seeks to produce efficient, hygienic, and sustainable storage systems that strengthen national food security.

Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) — this partnership reflects a strong commitment to promoting research-based innovation and applied technology in Indonesia’s agricultural logistics sector.

Through this academic–industrial synergy, DTPB FTP UGM and BULOG hope to deliver tangible innovations in corn and grain storage systems that enhance efficiency, reduce postharvest losses, and support Indonesia’s sustainable food resilience.
