Yogyakarta, October 20, 2025 — Another proud achievement was made by students from the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DTPB), Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FTP UGM). The DTPB student team won 3rd place in the Sustainable Village subcategory of SustainAction 2025, an environmental innovation competition organized by PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).
SustainAction is an innovation competition that gathers creative ideas and project proposals addressing environmental issues based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year, more than 2,000 participants from across Indonesia took part, each contributing solutions for a greener and more sustainable future.
After a rigorous selection process, only 50 proposals advanced to the semifinals, and 15 finalists were chosen for an intensive mentoring session with the judges and PLN experts to refine their innovative concepts before proceeding to the Grand Final.
One of the finalist teams came from DTPB FTP UGM, consisting of:

During the Grand Final, held at PLN Headquarters in South Jakarta on October 20, 2025, the finalists presented their ideas in a pitching session before a panel of judges. The UGM team impressed the panel with their innovative approach combining technology, social empowerment, and circular economy principles.
The DTPB FTP UGM team was awarded 3rd Place in the Sustainable Village subcategory, receiving further funding and mentorship from PLN to implement their project and bring tangible benefits to local communities and the environment.

This achievement highlights the capability of DTPB FTP UGM students to design sustainable, technology-driven, and community-based solutions. The EcoMaggot Village initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
