Internship Program at PT Madubaru
In 2026, the internship program involved 10 undergraduate students of Agricultural Engineering from the Biosystems Machinery Engineering (TMB) concentration. Over the six-month internship period, students gained direct exposure to the professional work environment, particularly within the national sugar industry.
Students actively participated in the entire sugar production chain, including land preparation for sugarcane cultivation, crop maintenance, harvesting, and processing activities in the sugar factory, leading to the production of sugar and spiritus. This hands-on experience provided students with a comprehensive understanding of sugarcane-based agro-industrial systems.
Strengthening Graduate Competence and Industry Readiness
Through this internship program, students gained valuable practical experience and insight into real industrial working conditions. These experiences are expected to serve as essential preparation for students as they enter the workforce after graduation.

The internship program also reflects the commitment of DTPB FTP UGM to preparing Agricultural Engineering graduates who are technically competent, skilled, and competitive, in line with industry demands.
Positive Response from Industry Partner
At the closing of the event, M. Luthfi Dinsaputro expressed appreciation for the internship initiative.
“We respond positively and warmly welcome this internship initiative. The students were actively involved, and we received various feedback on our production systems. We hope this program can be continued in the future, as it provides benefits for the company in terms of technological improvement and for students in gaining industrial work experience,” he stated.
Contribution to SDGs and Strengthening Partnerships
This internship program aligns with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
- SDG 4 – Quality Education
- SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
- SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
