[:id]Pada 21 – 26 Agustus 2023, kompetisi akademik bergengsi 9th Southeast Asian Agricultural and Food Engineering Student Chapter – Annual Regional Convention (AE ARC) 2023 kembali diselenggarakan di Universitas Putra Malaysia, Serdang, Selangor. AE – ARC ASEAN 2023 ini merupakan ajang pertemuan dan kompetisi tahunan mahasiswa dalam bidang Teknik Pertanian di tingkat Asia Tenggara. Kegiatan ini menjadi wadah untuk perluasan jejaring internasional, mengasah kemampuan dan berkompetisi di berbagai jenis perlombaan terkait bidang Teknik Pertanian. Peserta juga diharapkan dapat saling berbagi terkait pengetahuan, hasil pembelajaran di kelas, serta berkolaborasi kedepannya dalam memperkuat bidang Teknik Pertanian dan Teknik Pangan. 

Kegiatan AE-ARC 2023 ini dapat terselenggara dengan kerjasama Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Department of Process and Food Engineering, University Putra Malaysia dan Malaysian Society of Agricultural and Food Engineering (MSAE). Penyelenggaraan AE-ARC 2023 dilaksanakan secara luring di Faculty of Engineering, UPM, Serdang. Dr. Anas Mohd Mustafah selaku Ketua Panitia AE-ARC 2023 memberikan sambutan hangat kepada para peserta dan menyampaikan kegembiraan bahwa pelaksanaan kegiatan ini di tahun 2023 dapat dilaksanakan kembali secara luring dan diharapkan dapat mempererat jaringan antar mahasiswa dan juga pembimbing yang turut hadir di acara ini. 

Pada tahun 2023 ini, AE – ARC diikuti oleh total 33 tim dari 4 negara, yaitu Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, dan Filipina. Peserta yang berpartisipasi berasal dari beberapa universitas. Peserta dari Malaysia berasal dari Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Institut Kemahiran Tinggi Perda (PERDA-TECH), Politeknik Jeli Kelantan, Politeknik Kota Bharu, Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Universiti Malaysia Sabah. Peserta dari Indonesia berasal dari Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Andalas. Peserta dari Thailand berasal dari Suranaree University of Technology. Peserta dari Filipina berasal dari Caraga State University, Mindoro State University, dan Philippine Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers. 

Tim UGM mengirim 4 tim dengan total 12 mahasiswa untuk berkompetisi pada lima bidang lomba yaitu ARC Amazing Race, AE Quiz, Multimedia Public Speaking, Innovation Competition, dan Cultural Performance. Pada lima bidang lomba tersebut, AE – ARC 2023 mengusung tema “Moving Beyond Silos Towards Transdisciplinary in Sustainable Food and Agriculture”. Dr. Andri Prima Nugroho selaku ketua tim ARC UGM sekaligus pendamping kemahsiswaan menyampaikan bahwa untuk membentuk tim, sudah dilakukan seleksi internal dan pembekalan secara intensif untuk mempersiapkan materi dan juga perlengkapan untuk kompetisi. 

Tim yang berangkat berkompetisi diantaranya adalah Tim UGM A terdiri dari Dhamar Abhinawa, Muhammad Haris Yulianto, dan Naufal Helmi Yumnanda dengan Dosen Pembimbing Dr. Andri Prima Nugroho. Tim UGM B terdiri dari Fransiskus Asisi Aditya Nico Christian, Hanif Nur Wahid, Zuhrotul Maulidah dengan Dosen Pembimbing Dr. Muhammad Khoiru Zaki. Tim UGM C terdiri dari Mutiara Alifia Ramadhanty, Asyam Safa Prabaningrum, Reksy Cornelius Saragih dengan Dosen Pembimbing Dr. Prieskarinda Lestari. Tim UGM D terdiri dari Asma Noor Itsnaini, Lisa Astiana Ghina Saudah, Kevin Ezekiel Manik dengan Dosen Pembimbing Dr. Hanggar Ganara Mawandha.

Tim UGM berhasil meraih dua medali emas, dua medali perak, dua medali perunggu, dan dua medali copper pada AE-ARC 2023. Perolehan medali emas diperoleh oleh Tim UGM C pada kategori lomba Product Innovation – Applied Technology dengan menyajikan Moseaf – Modified Sealed And Vacuum Silage Fermenter For Improving The Process And Quality. Tim UGM A juga berhasil memperoleh medali perak pada kategori lomba Product Innovation – AgriTools and Equipments dengan menyajikan Iphoni – Simple Hydrophonic Farming. Tim UGM B dan UGM D juga berhasil meraih medali perunggu pada kategori product innovation – Future Technology dengan menyajikan Memo’s – The Agri-Invention for Repelling Pest Based on Integrated Pest Management dan Nurtura Shelf: Micro Plant Factory to Grow Green Leaf.

Cultural Performance dari Tim UGM

Pada kategori Multimedia Public Speaking, kategori akademik bergengsi yang memberikan kesempatan kepada Tim untuk pemaparan Ide dan gagasan ilmiah secara oral dengan dukungan multimedia dalam waktu 5 menit. Tim UGM berhasil meraih medali emas (UGM A), Medali perak (UGM D), dan Juara Harapan I (UGM B). Perlombaan multimedia public speaking berlangsung cukup ketat dengan hanya Top 5 dari total 33 tim peserta yang melaju ke babak final. Pada babak final tersebut, para peserta hanya diberikan waktu satu jam untuk menyiapkan materi dengan topik yang diberikan. Pada kategori lain, Cultural Performance dan ARC Amazing Race, Tim UGM berhasil meraih medali Copper. Perolehan medali selengkapnya untuk masing-masing tim pada kategori lomba dapat dilihat pada Tabel 1.

Capaian prestasi mahasiswa teknik pertanian pada AE – ARC 2023 tentunya tidak terlepas dari dukungan penuh dari Departemen Teknik Pertanian dan Biosistem dan Fakultas Teknologi Pertanian UGM. Ketua Departemen Teknik Pertanian dan Biosistem, Prof. Dr. Ir. Lilik Sutiarso, M.Eng., IPU., ASEAN Eng. menyampaikan selamat dan rasa bangga terhadap capaian prestasi dari tim mahasiswa Teknik Pertanian pada AE – ARC 2023. Pada kesempatan yang lain, Wakil Dekan Bidang Akademik, Prof. Dr. Yudi Pranoto, S.T.P., MP. juga menyampaikan bahwa melalui kegiatan kompetisi di level ASEAN ini dapat memberikan kesempatan dan wawasan kepada adik-adik mahasiswa dan Dosen Pembimbing dalam berkegiatan di luar kampus sekaligus mendukung capaian Indikator Kinerja Utama (IKU) 2 & 3. Harapannya, semoga dengan capaian prestasi tim mahasiswa Teknik Pertanian pada kompetisi akademik bergengsi AE-ARC ASEAN 2023 dapat semakin memacu semangat prestasi, berkompetisi, dan mengasah kemampuan mahasiswa di bidang Teknik Pertanian dan Biosistem tidak hanya di kancah nasional tapi juga Internasional.

Editor : Dr. Andri Prima Nugroho[:en]From August 21st to 26th, 2023, the prestigious academic competition, the 9th Southeast Asian Agricultural and Food Engineering Student Chapter – Annual Regional Convention (AE ARC) 2023, was once again held at Universitas Putra Malaysia, Serdang, Selangor. AE – ARC ASEAN 2023 serves as an annual gathering and competition for students in the field of Agricultural Engineering at the Southeast Asian level. This event provides a platform for expanding international networks, honing skills, and competing in various competitions related to the field of Agricultural Engineering. Participants are also expected to share knowledge, classroom learning outcomes, and collaborate in the future to strengthen the fields of Agricultural and Food Engineering.

In the year 2023, AE-ARC was attended by a total of 33 teams from 4 countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. The participants came from various universities. Malaysian participants were from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Institut Kemahiran Tinggi Perda (PERDA-TECH), Politeknik Jeli Kelantan, Politeknik Kota Bharu, Universiti Malaysia Perlis, and Universiti Malaysia Sabah. Indonesian participants represented Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Brawijaya, and Universitas Andalas. Thai participants came from Suranaree University of Technology, and Filipino participants were from Caraga State University, Mindoro State University, and the Philippine Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers.

UGM’s team sent a total of 4 teams consisting of 12 students to compete in five competition categories: ARC Amazing Race, AE Quiz, Multimedia Public Speaking, Innovation Competition, and Cultural Performance at AE-ARC 2023. The theme of AE-ARC 2023 was “Moving Beyond Silos Towards Transdisciplinary in Sustainable Food and Agriculture.” Dr. Andri Prima Nugroho, the head of the ARC UGM team and also the student advisor, mentioned that team formation involved internal selection and intensive preparation to equip the students with the necessary knowledge and materials for the competition.

The medal achievements of UGM’s teams in the AE-ARC 2023 competition are as follows:

UGM’s team achieved two gold medals, two silver medals, two bronze medals, and two copper medals at AE-ARC 2023. Team UGM C won a gold medal in the Product Innovation – Applied Technology category with their presentation of “Moseaf – Modified Sealed And Vacuum Silage Fermenter For Improving The Process And Quality.” Team UGM A also secured a silver medal in the Product Innovation – AgriTools and Equipments category with their presentation of “Iphoni – Simple Hydrophonic Farming.” Team UGM B and UGM D both earned bronze medals in the Product Innovation – Future Technology category with their presentations of “Memo’s – The Agri-Invention for Repelling Pest Based on Integrated Pest Management” and “Nurtura Shelf: Micro Plant Factory to Grow Green Leaf,” respectively.

In the Multimedia Public Speaking category, a prestigious academic competition that provides teams with the opportunity to present their ideas and scientific concepts orally with multimedia support in a 5-minute timeframe, UGM’s teams achieved the following medals: Gold Medal (UGM A), Silver Medal (UGM D), and Honorable Mention (UGM B). The multimedia public speaking competition was highly competitive, with only the top 5 out of a total of 33 participating teams advancing to the final round. In the final round, participants were given only one hour to prepare their materials based on a given topic. In other categories, Cultural Performance and ARC Amazing Race, UGM’s teams earned Copper Medals. The achievements of agricultural engineering students at AE-ARC 2023 are certainly not possible without the full support of the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering and the Faculty of Agricultural Technology at UGM. The Head of the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ir. Lilik Sutiarso, M.Eng., IPU., ASEAN Eng., congratulates and expresses pride in the achievements of the agricultural engineering student teams at AE-ARC 2023. On another occasion, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Yudi Pranoto, S.T.P., MP., also mentions that participation in competitions at the ASEAN level provides opportunities and insights for students and faculty advisors to engage in activities beyond the campus, simultaneously supporting the achievement of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) 2 & 3. The hope is that the achievements of the agricultural engineering student teams in the prestigious academic competition AE-ARC ASEAN 2023 will further boost the spirit of achievement, competition, and skill development among students in the field of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, not only at the national level but also internationally.
