From August 21st to 26th, 2023, the prestigious academic competition, the 9th Southeast Asian Agricultural and Food Engineering Student Chapter – Annual Regional Convention (AE ARC) 2023, was once again held at Universitas Putra Malaysia, Serdang, Selangor. AE – ARC ASEAN 2023 serves as an annual gathering and competition for students in the field of Agricultural Engineering at the Southeast Asian level. This event provides a platform for expanding international networks, honing skills, and competing in various competitions related to the field of Agricultural Engineering. Participants are also expected to share knowledge, classroom learning outcomes, and collaborate in the future to strengthen the fields of Agricultural and Food Engineering.

On Friday, July 16, 2023, the Chairman of the community service program based on appropriate technology, Prof. Lilik Sutiarso, conducted a socialization and handover activity of agricultural machinery in an event titled “Integrated Machineries for Straw Processing.” The program is directly managed by the Directorate of Community Service in collaboration with the Faculty of Agricultural Technology. The activity involved a partner group called Sedyo Rukun Farmers Group in Dusun Budegan II, Piyaman, Wonosari, Gunung Kidul. The team led by Prof. Lilik Sutiarso, along with other team members including Dr. Radi, Heryanto (Technician), Marheryanto (Technician), Umi Hapsari (Alumni), Wawan Saputra (Alumni), and Leonardus (Alumni), attended the event. Additionally, the activity was also attended by the group’s facilitator, Mrs. Mela Novita, the Head of the Farmers Group, the Group’s Management, the village head (Dukuh), representatives from the Piyaman Agricultural Extension Agency (BPP), and group members. The activity began with the socialization of the objectives of the community service project, followed by the handover of equipment to the group.
Yogyakarta, June 27, 2023. Muhammad Allam Daffa and Bernadetha Grace Wisdayanti, students of Smart Agriculture Research at the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Faculty of Agricultural Technology at UGM, have successfully become finalists and winners in the “REEC Student Project Competition 2023” program. The competition was participated in by approximately 10 teams from various universities. In this competition, 2 teams with the best works were selected through several processes, including idea formulation, full paper writing, prototype development, and presentations. As one of the winners, Allam Daffa and Bernadetha Grace have the opportunity to undergo an internship at Chiang Mai University, Thailand.
As part of the 12th Anniversary celebrations of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP) at UGM, on Monday, June 26, 2023, the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DTPB) hosted a guest lecture on food waste and its utilization for biogas and fertilizer production. The guest lecture took place in the Meeting Room of DTPB at FTP UGM and was delivered by Dr. Muhammad Heikal Ismail, a senior lecturer from the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UPM Serdang, Malaysia.
On Saturday, June 24, 2023, faculty members of the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Biosystems (DTPB) participated in a visit to the Indonesian Embassy in South Korea along with faculty members from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP) at UGM. The DTPB faculty members who took part in this visit included the Department Chair, Prof. Dr. Lilik Sutiarso, Prof. Dr. Sigit Supadmo, Dr. Murtiningrum, Dr. Muhamad Khoiru Zaki, Dr. Sri Markumningsih, and Dr. Sri Rahayoe. The FTP delegation, led by Dean Prof. Dr. Eni Harmayani, was received by Mr. Gogot Suharwanto, who is responsible for Education and Culture, as well as Mr. Eko Prilianto Sudrajat, who handles Trade Affairs.
On May 25, 2023, Dr. Ngadisih, a faculty member from the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Biosystems (DTPB) at FTP UGM, conducted an online guest lecture at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) for the course Fabricated Food Technology (EPF4702). The guest lecture was attended by 22 participants, including both faculty members and students from the Faculty of Engineering at UPM. The lecture covered the results of community service activities carried out by faculty members and students from DTPB FTP UGM in Selopamioro Village, Bantul.
